1. Michele Reagan: Her Record versus Her Rhetoric
2. Tom Horne Brought Common Core to Arizona

Submitted by Common Core Observer

The Superintendent of Public Instruction is responsible for executing various education laws and State Board of Education policies. The state superintendent also serves in a leadership role implementing various education policies in our state. The superintendent’s mission is listed on the website:

“This unique opportunity allows the state superintendent to develop best practices and strategies which take into account the needs of our children at every stage of the process: from birth to college to the workforce.”

Most of the outcry against the implementation of Common Core in Arizona has occurred in the last two years and has been directed at the current Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal. Conveniently for Tom Horne, he’s escaped criticisms from conservative grassroots for his role in the implementation of Common Core in our state. Remember, Tom Horne served as Arizona's Superintendent of Schools from 2006-2010.

NGA's Former Chairman, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, Created the Task Force to Revise Educational Standards

Ironically, the Common Core floodgates were opened by former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano in 2006-2007 when, as the chair of the National Governor's Association, she created a task force to revise the education standards throughout the country. The task force returned with their verdict: Common Core!  Nary a peep was heard from Tom Horne against the standards that were being so meticulously crafted by the Democrat governor and her team while he served as superintendent.

3. The Lie that is Michele Reagan

by Christine Bauserman
Alliance for Principled Conservatives

Senator Michele Reagan from Legislative District 23 is the most effective traitor to ever serve in the Arizona Legislator.  Michele can currently be found skipping through the state asking you to forgive her, again, for banding with a traitorous group of Republicans and voting, again, with the Democrats, and oh pretty please can you not add her name on that censure. Michele has been a traitor not once not twice but three separate times granting her the distinct status as “the traitor who has survived” and is now so emboldened by her ability to make excuses for rolling the Senate President and bringing Obrewercare to Arizona that she is asking for a promotion! She wants to be the next Secretary of State and probably has her eye on the governor seat.

To prove that good silver-tongued politicians from Chicago are not solely confined to the Democrat party, Michele is now running through the legislative district circuit lying about her vote for Obrewercare.  And just in case you want to try and argue her mastery of the “excuse” she delivers by changing her story for different LD’s proving her knack for being consistently inconsistent.

5. Maricopa County Republican Committee's EGC - Resolution to Censure Gov. Jan Brewer and 14 State Legislators

On November 7, 2013, the Maricopa County Republican Committee’s Executive Guidance Committee (MCRC EGC) Passed A Resolution To Censure Gov. Jan Brewer And 14 State Legislators:

·       Statement From A J LaFaro, MCRC Chairman: "It's unfortunate the Resolution to Censure even needed to be considered and voted on; however, the Republican Party is at a critical crossroads in its history.  A majority of Republicans are frustrated and ‘mad as hell’ with people who say they are Republican but do not support the principles and policies set forth in the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Republican Party Platform.  It's time to purge the Republican Party of the individuals who say they are Republican but support and vote with the progressive socialist Democrats,

 According to Article I Section 1 of the MCRC Continuing By-Laws Revised January 12, 2013:

Section 1 - Objective

The objective of the MCRC is to uphold the principles and policies as set forth in the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Republican Party Platform.

We will promote the political education of all Republican Party workers and loyalty to the Republican Party platform. We will also support the election of our party candidates who uphold the principles and policies as set forth in the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Republican Party Platform.  Our Republican members and the public should never forget what the Governor and 14 State Legislators did.  These links should help.

6. Gov. Brewer Supports the Ruling Class Republicans with a Fundraiser

If you want to know why rank and file conservative Republicans are disgusted with the Unprincipled Republican party, here's an article from the Capitol Times.    Brewer Headlining Fundraiser for Pro Expansion Republicans.

"Brewer is following through on her promise to help out the Republican lawmakers who stood with her in the fight for Medicaid expansion.  Brewer will headline a fundraiser on Sept. 20 for the 13 remaining GOP lawmakers who voted for her Medicaid plan. A flyer for the fundraiser urges people to join Brewer at the Paradise Valley home of Vanguard Health Systems executive Reginald Ballantyne III, “in support of our healthcare heroes.”

The fundraiser will benefit:

Rep. Heather Carter
Rep. Doug Coleman
Rep. Jeff Dial
Sen. Adam Driggs
Rep. Doris Goodale
Sen. John McComish
Rep. Kate Brophy McGee
Rep. Ethan Orr
Sen. Steve Pierce
Rep. Frank Pratt
Rep. Bob Robson
Rep. T J Shope
Sen. Bob Worsley

A flyer for the fundraiser suggests that people and political action committees that want to support the lawmakers make $500 contributions. It notes that a 2013 law increasing Arizona’s campaign contribution limits, which had previously been set at $440 for legislative candidates, goes into effect on Sept. 13.

During the rancorous debate over Medicaid expansion, grassroots conservatives vowed to target pro-expansion Republicans in their 2014 reelections. In response, Brewer pledged to support the Republicans who joined her coalition, which consisted of the Democratic caucuses in each legislative chamber and a handful of GOP supporters.

A 14th Republican who voted for Medicaid expansion, former Sen. Rich Crandall, has since resigned from the Legislature."

GILBERT WATCH NOTE:  Republican David Farnsworth (LD16) has been appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to replace Sen. Rich Crandall.  Farnsworth is a former AZ legislator in the early '90s from Northern AZ.  Here's some information from Project Vote Smart

8. The AZ Conservative Coalition Issued its Ranking of Governor Brewer and 53 Republican Legislators

"The AZ Conservative Coalition (ACC),  formerly known as The PAChyderm Coalition, was formed in 2003  in Phoenix, Arizona under the leadership of our Founding Chairman, Phil Mason.   Frustrated with the "Big Tent" philosophy in charge of the Party apparatus, Republican conservatives felt the need to establish an organization that would advocate for the Republican Party Platform principles espoused by President Ronald Reagan. Those fundamental principles, based on the Constitution created by our Founding Fathers, have been unanimously endorsed by the delegates to our national conventions every four years since 1980.  With that fact in mind, we are the mainstream of the Party."

The ACC has ranked Governor Jan Brewer as well as 53 Arizona Senators and Representatives.  Go here to see how our Republican legislators performed, and here to see how Governor Brewer performed.

9. A Resolution of the Arizona LD 25 Republican Precinct Committeemen to Censure the Governor and 15 Arizona State Legislators

A Resolution of the Arizona LD 25 Republican Precinct Committeemen to

Censure

the Governor and 15 Arizona State Legislators

Whereas, Governor Brewer and 15 Republican state legislators formed an alliance with Democratic elected officials for the express purpose of thwarting the will of the Republican majority in the legislature and violating Republican Party principles and the Republican Party Platform, including but not limited to the following:

They implemented the passage of Medicaid expansion;

They implemented government healthcare;

They approved taxpayer funding for abortion and increased funding for abortion services;

They expanded eligibility for welfare benefits, and invited 300,000+ new people into the welfare system;

They raised taxes;

They voted against tax relief & kept Arizona as the state with the 2nd highest tax rate in the nation;

They voted against auditing the hospital bed tax;

They increased property taxes;

The only tax relief they offered was for special-interest industries that could afford to hire lobbyists;

They rejected a balanced budget and voted for one with a structural debt of $400 million;

They removed government oversight for special interests;

They voted against verifying citizenship as a requirement for Medicaid benefits;

They removed funding for English immersion for non-English-speaking students, thus ensuring the continuation of the failed, Democratic-Party-supported, bilingual programs.

Whereas, they corrupted the legislative process by suspending the rules and depriving the public of the opportunity to scrutinize and comment on the proposed legislation.

Whereas, they stymied the legislative process, dishonored American legislative traditions, stifled democratic notions of fairness and openness, and violated decorum by refusing to debate.

Whereas, they violated the wishes of the vast majority of Republican precinct committeemen in the state of Arizona who had overwhelmingly opposed the passage of Medicaid expansion, making their wishes known in formal resolutions.

Whereas, they voted in favor of national health care, disregarding the will of the voters of Arizona who amended the Arizona Constitution via Proposition 106 in 2010 to oppose national health care.

Whereas, they violated the separation of powers defined in the Arizona Constitution by voting for a budget amendment originated by the executive branch of government.

Whereas, they violated the Arizona Constitution by surrendering the legislative authority to tax to an unelected bureaucrat in an Executive branch agency, and made such taxes subject to approval of the federal government.

Whereas, they forced passage of a tax increase by a mere majority vote instead of the constitutionally required 2/3 vote.

Therefore be it Resolved, that we, the precinct committeemen of Legislative District 16, do censure the following Arizona State legislators:

Governor Jan Brewer
Senator Rich Crandall
